2.0L EcoBoost coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The block casting has a narrow coolant passage between cylinders that compromises the head gasket seal, letting coolant enter a cylinder; symptoms are single-cylinder misfire codes (P0301/P0302/P0303), white exhaust smoke and unexplained coolant loss, progressing to washed cylinder walls and engine failure. Ford revised the block casting for roughly mid-2019 production, so later cars are far less affected. The durable repair is a short block or engine replacement.
